Naples is famous for many things, which would take hours to list them all. One of these, perhaps less known even if under the eyes of most, is that in Naples we have cut the ribbon to numerous " first times ": universities, museums, industries, customs, all new built or invented in our city before than in the rest of the country or even in Europe, which in past centuries often meant the world.
We have not lost this healthy habit and just a few days ago we inaugurated the first Alley of Culture in Italy. Via Montesilvano , in the heart of the Rione Sanità , in the Vergini area, is no longer just the classic alley to be photographed: now, between the low and hanging clothes, the colors of the works stand out street art by Mario Schiano and Gianluca Raro and those of the book covers you can borrow, thanks to the free outdoor library , a project by the Opportunity Onlus < / strong> (the youngest Italian non-profit organization) in collaboration with the Toraldo coffee company.
Let's go back a few centuries together. We are in the eighteenth century, the district is growing and its alleys are a dark, narrow and poorly frequented network. Walking we meet Father Gregorio , who talks to us about his purpose: to post pictures of the Madonna and Child on the walls, giving the population the task of keeping them always in order and illuminated. An idea as simple as it is brilliant, given that it will bring the first form of public lighting. P>
And it is next to some of those images, which later became votive chapels, that in the Alley of Culture you can find quotes, books, comics, murals and many cultural activities that aim to collect the inheritance of Father Gregorio and bring light, beauty and legality, promoting people's freedom.
